Lead School Nurse – Sheffield

Chase Medical are currently recruiting for a Lead School Nurse to join an excellent school in the Sheffield area on a part time basis. In this role, you will function as the Lead Nurse, as well as one of the designated safeguarding leads.

What is on offer?

This particular position is offering a salary of £18.86 per hour and £15 per hour for days on-call. You will be working only within term time, providing excellent flexibility for those who may have children themselves or are looking for great work-life balance.

The work pattern is currently 34.5 hours over four days per week, with the fourth day being on a Saturday if possible.

What is needed from you?

In this role, you will be working with 11-18-year olds providing them with health advice, education, and acute/emergency treatment. You will be responsible for supporting students in all matters of well-being including mental and physical health. There will be an on-call aspect for this role to provide telephone triage to boarding students if required, liaising with local GP services.

In addition to your responsibility for students, you will also work alongside staff to promote their well-being, creating initiatives and programmes to support this.

Clinically, you must have the following qualifications/experience:

  • Nursing qualification – RGN etc
  • Experience treating/seeing adolescents
  • Telephone triage
  • Minor Injury/Ailments
  • Mental Health experience

Alongside your directly clinical responsibilities, you will also take on a role as one of the school’s Designated Safeguarding Leads. For this you will oversee the safety of students in a number of forms including suspected abuse, radicalisation, and social care. For this area of the job you must have experience/ be qualified in the following areas:

  • Child Safeguarding
  • Knowledge of the child social care system
  • Ability to liaise with local authorities/Police if required
